Can you believe this woman?
Where do I even begin? I have a co-worker, I will call her Shanaynay for anonymity. Shanaynay has been working for our department for four years, going on five. She is an administrative secretary; basically she does peoples photocopies, filing, etc. You would think that someone in her position would be quiet and willing to help, WRONG. This woman will pick and choose what she wants to do, and since she is the office aide she will tell her supervisor that she has too much to do and can only do certain things….she says this, but than I see her posting pictures on Myspace and making a résumé for her baby daddy (who is 29, but yet to finish his GED). Her grammar is horrible and her writing skills absolutely atrocious. She even had the audacity to tell me, an Executive Administrator that she should have my job because her associate degree in office management is far better than my BA and MA, and makes her by far more qualified. I bit my tongue because I know she speaks out of ignorance and poor upbringing. Further more, at one point I took pity on her and let her borrow my daughters walker (she has four kids from different fathers) and let her take it home so her little one could enjoy it. Well, she brought it back today and it was filthy. It was smeared in dirt, and her family’s hair was all over it, black coarse hair. It was very disgusting. I don’t know where the walker has been, so I just threw it in the dumpster. Further more, she is on public assistance, yet she can some how afford a new car, iphone, and gets her nails done weekly. She get’s mad when ever any of us receives a birthday gift from our boss (usually a 150 gift certificate to somewhere) because she claims she never gets anything, even though when baby #4 came along, the department showered her with a new crib, travel system, and playpen, high chair, and several of the things on her baby wish list. This woman is so unreal; I don’t know why she hasn’t been fired already!

I dont feel sorry for you! I would in fact go as far as to call you a RACIST. “Black Coarse Hair”! WTF. Who says stuff like that - only racists people who are afraid of Blacks. Clearly when you typed this you were not doing your job as well. I sure wish I could trace these comments and send them to your employer so you’ll be on public assistance. By the way, statistics clearly show more whites are on public welfare than are blacks, which really means more whites are using my tax dollars to support themselves and their children.
And let’s be clear about something, if you have a BA and a MA, you should not be an assistant to anyone unless it’s preceeded by project, director, program, manager, etc. so you can move up through the ranks. Get a life, quit complaining about other people and get some therapy for your racist pathology and behavior. Trust me this will come to the light because racism always shows its true colors.

I can sympathize in some ways, but I do feel that the name calling “Shenanay” and the comment about the hair was a little too far. I won’t call you and racist because everyone has some of “it” in them when they are pushed too far. Blacks and Whites alike say what they will when behind closed doors. As far as your work issues, I feel as though you should report her in regards to spending too much work time on personal related issues; however be sure you have proof (hard solid proof) prior to making allegations. We all spend time checking the internet, personal email, making posts or comments to social networks, BLOGS, or websites, so I think you’re probably just as guilty as she is; however if her actions are impeding you from performing your job then I would make a complaint to her supervisor. As the saying goes, you can take them out of the Hood (or Trailer Park) but you can’t take it out of them. She’ll be who she is as that’s who she is. You’re allowing her to take too much of your time and energy. I highly doubt she’s posting anything about you or even concerned with you for that fact. So make a formal complaint or move on and do your job.
