Email Mistake
Recently I screwed up an email while I was away on a business trip. I was using the companies web email and received a notice from the Administrative Assistant. I clicked the ‘Reply’ Button to answer the email. In the email I put information that I only wanted the Administrative Assistant, my friend, to see. After writing the email, I clicked the send button. As the email was sending, I found that the entire employee roster was on the email. I tried to stop it, but it was too late.
Not being all too familiar with the companies web mail system, I unintentionally had clicked the ‘Reply All’ button and had to face the music of sending the entire company personal information in the email.
Nice job.
Do you have any coworker email stories? Respond to this post, I would love to hear some.

I know exactly how you are feeling. The same thing happened to me, but it was not all that innocent. This was also my ‘previous’ job.

I had set up a no-reply news letter list for a client. I did this while migrating to another server so once everything was set there was no undoing it for about 12 hours. My first hint of disaster came when I received an automated response from someone on the list saying they where on vacation. The reply went to the entire list of over 2000 people, who to be helpful forwarded the email to - the noreply list, which sent the forward to everyone else. Now the people were angy, and they started sending requests demanding to be taken of the list. They sent the request to - you guessed it, the noreply list - thus growing the problem I was powerless to stop until admin got their in the morning. The people on this list worked themselves up in such a frenzy it was unreal. I hope I didn’t ruin the credibility of the shop I had sent the list out for. I get to face the music tomorrow….sigh

I’ve seen this happen at a company I worked for previously. In our building there were 1000 plus people that our magic ‘reply all’ button went to. We had a group that would send out mass emails to agents on the floor as far as employee events notifications and whatnot and the supervisor of this group screwed up bad. He somehow sent a detailed email of a sexual encounter w/ one of his direct reports that he had been going back and forth w/ one of his guy buddies who was also one of his direct reports, only when he sent it he clicked the reply all and all 1000 plus of us got the email including the director and hr staff. This guy was fired promptly of course for both infractions of screwing a direct report and using email for personal use. His wife works in hr. Guess who got fired and divorced over his email mishap?
